This large 29cm NZ Maori Greenstone Mere is made from New Zealand greenstone, found on the West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand.
At approximately 29cm (11 3/8') long, the mere is a little bit shorter than the normal length of an ancient mere (often 33 to 34cm long) but is still an impressive piece to hold in your hand.
The pounamu mere can be purchased with or without the wooden stand. With the stand, it makes an excellent presentation piece to retiring business leaders, inspiring coaches, for a 21st, 50th birthday, tangi, etc. Or purchase one of these magnificent pieces to add to your Maori collection.
The Greenstone Mere is finished off with a plaited strap. Please always hold the mere at the short end, with your hand through the strap. This is a valuable item that you don't want to drop. Greenstone dropped at just the right angle on a hard floor can shatter.
Ideally, store it on a wooden stand and enjoy looking at the innate beauty of New Zealand Greenstone Jade (pounamu).
The stand can have a gold engraved plaque on the front - up to 5 words. Please note that the stand cannot be returned if engraved, aside from the unlikely event that the engraving has been done wrong. Allow 4 days for engraving to be done. There are also options to have the stand laser engraved into the wood, paua engraved into the wood, and for engraving to be on both the front and back edges.
