The Tewhatewha can often be seen in Maori postcards or photographs, and often in the hands of a Maori chief, leading a haka or speaking on the marae. Short tewhatewha, like this one, were probably designed for ceremonial use.
The tewhatewha pictured is approximately 71cm (28') long. A full length tewhatewha would be approximately 1.1 metres long.
Your tewhatewha comes with a matching display stand, as pictured.
If you would like the stand engraved, you have 3 options. Please note that engraved items cannot be returned, aside from the unlikely event of the engraving being wrong. Select the engraved option, and then enter your engraving words in the box that will pop up.
Option 1) An engraved plaque can be added to the front edge. Up to 8 words allowed.
Option 2) The top of the stand can be laser engraved (into the wood) with the recipient's name and birthdate. Up to 4 words allowed.
Option 3) The top of the stand can be paua engraved (into the wood) with the recipient's name and birthdate. Up to 18 characters allowed. Paua engraving is now only done in CAPITALS.
We can also do a 21st version, with '21' in paua shell on top of the stand, and a gold plaque with the recipient's name and birthdate on the front of the stand. Alternatively you can have the paua 21 plus the recipient's name (first and last name only) paua engraved on the top, or laser engraved.
